The mystery of the missing Lum continues, where we find grandpappy Spears talking with Abner in the Jot ‘Em Down store. Abner faces losing his house, and even the store, which he put up to make Lum’s bail. Running away has made Lum look suspicious, and doubts that he’ll ever get out of the penitentiary arise.
The two old gents ponder if Lum went to Mexico. With facing the loss of the store, Abner contemplates on going there himself. Suddenly, Lum makes his appearance. What will he have to say about where he has been? Lum is anything but fearful, and confidently sends for Fremont, the government agent. What big surprise has Lum brought back with him?
Cedric is back, and he has the real counterfeiter in hand, Diogenes Smith.
