Don Wilson introduces the scene in Jack’s home, where he’s trying to repair his record player. Shocking. Maybe it’s not the electronics of it, but the record collection that Jack is trying to play. Will Mary believe the modern improvements that Jack made to his phonograph? Regardless, she reads the latest letter from home. Dennis Day jokes about his wacky relatives, then gives Jack’s phonograph to play his song for the show, Gona Kiss You Good Morning.
Phil, Don, and the Quartet arrive to swap jokes. Phil mistook he recent earthquake for just being part of a drunken stupor. Anticipating the arrival of the scripts, instead it’s Steve Bradley, Jack’s publicity man who enters with news.
What new stunt does Steve want Jack to do? Why not get on board and buy a baseball team like all the other top comedians? The Sportsmen sing, Take Me Out to the Ball Game.
At the ball park, Don gives the play by play, and Phil lays out the corny jokes. The phone operators gossip about Jack’s love life, while the cast waits for the scripts are still not here yet. Will the cast ever rehearse? Will Jack actually buy a ball team? Stay tuned and see for yourself.
