He is standing in front of a plain background, with his hands in his pockets. Peary was a comedian and actor, best known for his role as "The Great Gildersleeve" on radio and television in the 1940s and 1950s. The photograph conveys a sense of classic Hollywood glamour and style.

Gildersleeve has to deal with a couple of active kids. Leroy’s accident-prone nature on his bike soon pales compared to the fast-driving Marjorie, and her new college friends. He’s just concerned at her new found liberties, but Marjorie sees him putting a damper on er fun. Where can Gildy seek advice to cheer Marjorie up? In their own ways both Birdie, and Judge Hooker try to nudge Gildy into cutting his apron strings, and letting her grow up.

Gildy is pleased with his idea of joining the gang and taking Miss Milford on a double date with Marjorie. He stops in at Peavey’s for party favors. Will Gildersleeve come off as a cool addition to the gang, or just as an old stick in the mud? Let’s get this party started and see what happens. Jump into Bronco’s jalopy, take a joy ride, and cut a few rugs with the jitterbugs. It’s pretty transparent that Gildy is going along to act as chaperone, but who needs chaperoning worse? the kids or the grownups?

PS: Don’t forget, the Name the Song contest is ending soon, so fire up your time machines and head back to 1949 to enter for cash prizes.
