Jack Benny – Christmas Party at Birmingham General Hospital. ep601, 461222

A festive image of a vintage Santa Claus holding a large sack of toys over his shoulder, with a snowy background and the words "Spread the Christmas Spirit" written in bold white letters above.

Audio is staticky, but generally OK. Rochester helps Jack plan on how to make his tiny Christmas tree appear bigger than it is. Afterward, Mary Livingston pops in, and talks about her doctor, and recovering from her recent illness. Jokes include Mary’s sister Babe, and her appearing last week, and the Navy base where this performance is being held.

Fun with trimming the Christmas tree is joined by the whole gang, Phil, Don, Dennis, and the Sportsmen. What kind of party games will they play? Dennis tells about a childhood sweetheart, and his first kiss while wearing braces. The Sportsmen sing Jingle Bells for the commercial, preempting Jack’s violin playing.

Will some of Jack’s former cast members show up? Larry Stevens brings a special Christmas card. Mr Billingsley comes down the chimney, but he’s not playing Santa Claus. Kenny Baker tells about living with his relatives. The show is just lousy with tenors! Well hello stranger, Even Schlepperman pops in. To top things off, the three tenors gather to sing a Christmas medley around the tree. but it gets clipped, along with Jack’s parting words.

Thank you. Sad that it is filled with static but still hilarious. He was the best and your sharing him through Christmas episodes is such a gift.
