now that a home for the lion has been found with the Rylands family, Lum can turn his attention to library business. Today we find Abner reading a story to Cedric. The title is “The Tale of Pinky Winky.” The story about a rabbit. Lum enters and is frustrated Abner still has a mess of books to straighten out.
Cedric asked how the lion is doing. Lum sends him on his way, but assures him that the lion is settling in fine. Behind his back, Abner ignores his chores of straightening up the books, and returns to quietly reading the book to Cedric. We learned that the little rabbit is determined to swim underwater like a goldfish.
Abner continues the detail of Pinky’s determination, and how the other animals respond to him. Will the rabbit be able to outsmart the fox? Will he fall for the swimming lessons that Freddy the fox offers him? As the suspense grows, Cedric cries toward the rabbit away! Will Lum let the two-finish reading to find out how it ends?
Since Lum has taken their book, Cedric and Abner can only speculate how the rabbit might escape. As they argue over whether the rabbit was eaten by the fox, or rescued by this note of the pity, Lum enters to reveal the true outcome of the story.
