big things are happening in Pine Ridge. Besides the library, Lum has had the big idea to start a bakery. Grandpap is once again taking his place in the library to read the almanac. In the meantime, Lum tells Abner about his plans to install a new cookstove in the store.
Abner disagrees, but Lum figures the best place to install the new stove is right in front of the door. That way everybody can see it, and watch the chef in action. Cedric arrives in the delivery truck, but he seems to have misplaced the stove. And Cedric sets out on his errand once again, Grandpap marvels at the high wind speeds that other states claim. Surely, they can’t have faster winds than those that pass-through Pine Ridge, can they?
As the gents rearrange some of their displays in the store, they marvel at Grandpap’s dedication to reading the almanac. Doesn’t he ever go home? Abner wonders if Lum will have a job for him and a bakery, or will he be busy enough tending to the store and the library? Love figures he can handle all of bakery duties himself. He’s already halfway through his gourmet recipe book. Abner gets surprised by the idea of making pancakes, and then setting them on fire on purpose.
Lum and Abner get worried when Grandpap announces he needs to make a phone call to Dr. Miller. Don’t worry, he just needs to share some useless information from the almanac about geography. Cedric finally arrives, carrying the stove all by himself. This time, it seems that he forgot the delivery truck.
