Cedric has joined Lum in the Jot ‘Em Down store today. After a few near mishaps, Lum has Cedric phone the new school teacher, Miss Frederics to arrange a date. As the two leave to finalize the arrangements, Abner enters with grandpappy Spears. Abner wonders at what secret events are transpiring. The mysterious date is mistaken for a surprise party, and Abner makes his own arrangements that are sure to intervene with Lum’s private affair.
