Lum is pretty happy over his latest idea for a new business. Abner has been confused over having lands outside the library, and has worked with Squire to surprise Lum with the real-life lion. Cedric arrives to announce the arrival of one of the meanest lands he’s ever seen. As Lum arrives, Abner directs Cedric to hide the lion in the feed room.
While Abner keeps trying to send Lum away on errands, Lum insists he has library business to take care of first. We get and idea of a few of the titles they carry in their library. Abner gets confused when grandma Masters is checked out a book on electrical engineering. Why would grandpa Masters let her do such a thing and ride trains around all day? Lum wonders why Grandpap checked out the almanac of 1902. That’s the book he donated to the library.
A strange noise from the feed room is caught Lum’s attention.Can Abner restrain him from going back there to see his surprise? By now, Cedric has left out the back to enter through the front door. Will Abner give him the chance to share is important news? With Lum locked in the feed room with his surprise, Cedric finally had the chance to tell Abner the cage door was damage when he dropped it off, and the lion is on the loose in the feed room.
