since Abner bought a real lion to put up in front of the library, Irving has become a more important fixture advance the library itself. Lum tries his hand at being a lion tamer, but insists on putting protective glass between himself and the lion in the cage. Cedric needs to leave to catch a train, but Lum stays in the cage to impress Abner 20 enters the store.
Feeling bold with the protective glass in place, Lum feels like he could take on a whole cage full of lions, and maybe even a tiger as well.
Abner speaks with Lum to tell him how Elizabeth and little pearl are getting to schoolhouse all set for the evening sociable. We also learned how Lum had sent Cedric a way so he would miss out on his big chance to be the lion tamer at the sociable.
Will Lum’s attempt to impress Ms. Frederick’s work out the way he plans? His first problem is how to get himself out of the cage, when the glass partition separates them from the cage door. Will Abner be any help in getting Irving out of the cage so Lum can exit? The gents find themselves both locked in the cage, while Irving is free to roam the town.
