A show that again features the musical talents of Kaye Star. It’s morning in Summerfield, and Marjorie has already left for school. Leroy drags his feet because he doesn’t want to be part of the square-dancing class. Fortunately for him, Gildersleeve also thinks the folk dancing class is silly.

Going to the school to give that muscle bound Amazon of a gym teacher a piece of his mind, Gildersleeve soon forgets which piece when the gym teacher turns out to be a lot cuter than he expected. Before he knows it, Gildy is getting enrolled in the adult folk dancing class. Not missing a chance for jokes and insults, Judge Hooker pops in to talk with Gildy and the gym teacher, Miss Taylor about the dance class.

Musical interlude. Harold Peary sings, Some Enchanted Evening.

At the office, Gildy talks with Bessie about trimming down by dieting. Later, Gildy pops in to talk with Peavey about the square dance class and suggests exercise to slim down. Back at home, Gildersleeve puts Peavey’s exercising machine to good use. Will all that exercise work? Not if he won’t stop eating pies, and bananas. Though he’s feeling discouraged, Marjorie and Birdie convince him to go to the dance, and give it his best try.

It’s time, and all the Summerfield cowboys have made their appearance, but first Kay Starr sings, Wabash Cannonball.

Gildy is given the chance to save face by not dancing. Instead, he calls the square dances. In parting, Gildy gives a quick word to each of the cast members, and production crew on this last show of the season.
