Jake is in his office at the movie studio when Becky enters in high spirits. It’s lunchtime, but Becky gets confused over what a commissary is. On their way out, mama greets the stenographer. Previously she had been confused by the shorthand symbols the secretary wrote. Jake has since learned, and tries to explain that concept to Becky.

Becky is surprised to see that the commissary looks just like a cafeteria. She has a seat at a table Jake goes through the line for her. While she awaits, she is approached by a Shakespearean actor. She finds out about the actor’s life, but not without several points of confusion.

Jake arrives with the food, and Becky complains he brought her too much. She shares extra portions with the actor, who seemed to be sin and hungry to her. It’s the actor rambles on about his motivations for why he works in his occupation. As the actor leaves, Becky does her best to talk Jake into giving the man a job.

Guest appearance: gale Gordon.
