As part of the Suspense radio program, Sam Spade crosses over to tell this tale. Some introductory background to the character of Sam Spade is given, and how his stories spawned the host of hard boiled detectives who followed.
Sam is visited by a dentist who claims to be looking for a client who owes him money. He wants more than that though. The vindictive man leaves, and a dame enters just moments later. She claims her brother likes to pose as a dentist to get revenge on people, hiring detectives to help him track them down. Strange, but a quick phone call to his pal Philip Marlowe confirms her story.
Why does the phony dentist do what he does? Is there something special about the false teeth he’s after, or the bridgework? Questions of secret compartments, and other curiosities are investigated? Is there something in the pattern of how he operates? Though he seems tame enough, and just a little wacky, the little gent shows a side of temper, and even danger to our hero.
Listen and learn how the wise cracking Sam Spade maintains the upper hand over not only the bad guy, but his client, and anyone who tries to cross his path.
