Working the Homicide Detail, Joe Friday gets right on the case. Interviewing a woman who is the roommate of a murdered victim in an apartment building, Joe gets all the info he can on Mr Bartley. It isn’t much use since the man is nondescript, and he is likely using an assumed name.
After another body shows up, Joe works with Missing Persons to see if he can make an identification. The case doesn’t seem to progress much, but Joe listens to the family story of the woman making the identification. She does confirm the description of the killer, and enough clues to let Friday move in on his suspect. The case snowballs with evidence as Friday keeps up his plodding pace. The killer just might get away though when he dives offshore. Maybe.
