Poppa comes home early from work. He assures Becky that he’ll tell his business partner Sam about his extended vacation. Jake seems to be coming around to the idea of his vacation, but wonders how Becky arrived at a vacation out West to Yellowstone.
Jake can sometimes be swayed to make a decision with pressure related to keeping up in the social circle. Becky is no less vulnerable. When Mrs. Fink visits, she tries to downplay their domestic vacation plans, and suggests they go to Europe instead. Becky stands her ground and her vacation choices, but not to be outdone Mrs. Fink admits to her own domestic plans to go to Hollywood.
The discussion of traveling gets Jake and Becky confused over what a geyser is. Mrs. Fink claims that she will be traveling in about a month or so, roughly the same time that Jake and Becky will be traveling as well. In departing she invites the blooms to come over for tea. When the doorbell rings again, its Sarah who has picture books that show Old Faithful in action. As mama blue and changed her vacation plans to go to Hollywood instead?
