He answers her question, only to be asked more about her. Becky just can’t take his mind off of his knee pants business.
Arriving home after their evening out, they find that the lights won’t turn on. Jake leaves to try to fix the lamp when Sarah comes to visit. What is Sydney doing at the office at this time of night? As the ladies talk, more lights in the house go out. Sarah decides to do them a favor and call the electrician. Jake’s worries begin a new when he hears that Sydney is in the office, and even more so when he learns that his son-in-law will be arriving here soon.
The electrician arrives just before Sydney and the visitor he brought with him. What does Mr. Granville want to discuss with Jake? He lays his cards on the table. He wants to enlarge his own factory by buying out the knee pants business from Jake. Sidney is already cleared it with Sam and he offers to finish conducting the business tomorrow in the office. There discussion finishes just as the lights come back on, and there’s a knock at the door. Where did Becky go? Sarah finds her weeping mother, but is she too young to understand why? Maybe she’s just as much attached to the business as her husband.
