The flashlight promotion has been such a success that the Jot Em Down store is well on the way to being restocked. Abner and dick talk about the campaign sign that Lum changed behind his back. Dick advises that Abner hire a campaign manager.

Abner leaves, and Lum enters to chat with Dick on the progress of restocking the store, and complain about Abner’s lack of organization skills. They also comment on Abner’s crazy inventions.

Abner pops in to say that Squire Skimp is his new campaign manager. It looks like things will be fierce as the election continues.

Carlton Brickert reminds listeners how to get a promotional flashlight.

Horlicks: Not getting enough sleep? Just before going to bed, treat yourself to a hot glass of Horlicks. The flashlight promo is coming to an end.

Squire is organizing all sorts of campaign stunts, and Abner has been pulling ahead in the election results. His promises even have Dick Huttleston a little worried. Conversation turns to a big donation Abner gave to the library to promote his run for the presidency. Where did he get that much cash? I wonder if Squire is spending money that Abner doesn’t have?

As Lum and Abner talk about election progress, Abner gets confused about another of Lum’s figures of speech. One thing does come to light, the cash used for the library donation.

Carlton Bricker reminds listeners how to send for a flashlight, and where to buy a package of Horlicks.

Ready for another visit to Pine Ridge? Let’s go! Abner is afraid the Squire misappropriated his insurance settlement check. The one that he needs to return to avoid risking a charge of fraud. While Abner and Lum talk about the contract with Squire, Abner discovers he just might have bigger trouble brewing.

Despite some of the rough times of late, Lum and Abner realize they are still friends, and try to figure how they can solve some of their troubles. They have it out with Squire over the library donation, and the terms in Abner’s contract.

Carlton Bricker reminds listeners how to send for a flashlight, and that the contest is ending soon.

Lum and Abner- Abner Asks Listeners To Vote For Lum. 350222

Carlton Bricker advises listeners the flashlight offer ends soon.

Now, let’s see what’s happening down in Pine Ridge. Abner takes criticism over his efforts to get his money back, after Squire had donated it to the library. Money, of course, that wasn’t his to give, since it needed to be returned to the insurance company. The withdrawal of funds could cost him the election, but otherwise Abner faces some serious legal problems.

Lum and Dick talk about the clauses in the contract between Abner and Squire that lets Squire claim 10% of all Abner’s earnings. But only if he is elected president. Their conversation drifts to the flashlight offer, and a mention of William Horlick’s 89th Birthday being tomorrow. Wow, I wonder if he got that old drinking his own product.

Abner is feeling down about his contract with Squire, but both Lum and Dick go to see if they can get him out of it. While they’re gone, Abner gets on the party line to suggest voters elect Lum.

Carlton Bricker announces the end of the contest, and a reminder to send in flashlight requests now.
