Opening with a musical selection, or two, the listening audience awaits the radio connection to be made. Joining Jack who is still in New York, getting ready to blow out the candles on his birthday cake, Mary’s mom phones for some quick teasing. As Jack tries to blow out his candles, Dennis Day arrives to sing, How High the Moon.

When Phil Harris arrives, he learns Jack’s plan to spoof Fred Allen’s Town Hall Tonight. Parts are assigned. Don Vonzel, Peter Van Harris, Mary Seattle , and what about Dennis? Phil plays a jazzy tune to transition, Alice Blue Gown.

Adding a clothes pin to his nose, Jack gets the right tone to his voice, and the spoof begins.

The cast get into their roles, and the topical jokes fly. News includes Rochester as a man on thee street to dig up dirt on Jack Benny. Seattle gets quite the reception, and helps introduce their guest.

Ad libs from some of Fred’s regular voice actors turn to a spoof sponsor message for Fred’s sponsor. The Merrymucks sing an abbreviated version of, Ma He’s Making Eyes At Me. The show turns to more guests to interview. And answer the question of the week. With all the ad libbing, will they have time for the question of the week?
