Carlton Bricker advises to hurry and get a promotional flashlight, and how to get one. It’s a way for loyal fans to support the show, the sponsor, and get a treat for yourself.
The scheme for Lum to steal Abner’s insurance check for him goes off as planned. Lizabeth has good reason to suspect Lum, and with Abner as town constable, she wants him to arrest Lum. What would it look like for Lum, the Justice of the Peace, and president of the school board to endure such scandal?
Dick brings mail in by the bag full, and chats about the alleged robbery at Abner’s house. Dick shares his opinion that the robber should be harshly punished. Then Lizabeth phones to call Abner home. What’s going to happen now?
Carlton Bricker reviews the details of how to get a mini flashlight.

Lum and Abner – Lum Is Arrested And Thrown In Jail. 350212
Horlicks: Use it for weight control. It keeps your alert. It’s a wonderful drink for youngsters as well. Carlton Bricker says that there has been so many requests for flashlights that the factory has had trouble keeping up, but the promo is still open.
The campaign for store president reaches fever pitch. Dick talks with Abner about ways to campaign for president. Abner leaves as Lum arrives, and Lum comments on Abner’s technique on restocking the store’s shelves. They also chat about Abner’s crazy inventions he has on his farm.
Lum will get on the party line later to relate the flashlight shortage, and assure that everyone who requested one would get it eventually. Abner returns to announce he just hired a campaign manager.
Carlton Bricker gives the flashlight details, and warns to act fast, since the offer will end soon.
PS: From reading the title of the show, and its description, it may seem to be the wrong show. In the show, briefly, it does mention concern over Lum having to go to jail over the theft incident.
Lum and Abner -Dick Huddleston Gets Lum Out Of Jail. 350213
Carlton Bricker suggests to all the boys and girls to hurry and send in for your flashlight, and how to do it.
When we last saw our friends, Lum had been arrested, and put in jail. Dick Huttleston covered bail, and now Lum visits him in Dick’s general store. Lum spills the beans to Dick, but wants to keep it secret about the ordeal of Abner’s fake broken arms. For now, Lum still has the check that he went to jail for, and is keeping it safe until he can return it.
Dick, besides being the friendly rival store owner in town, is also postmaster of Pine Ridge. He gives Lum the mailed requests for flashlights that have arrived by the thousands.
Lum is filled in about Abner’s campaigning activity. Running around with his arms still in slings to get the pity vote. Lum gets on the party line to put his own plug to encourage folks to vote for him, and keep his status as president of the Jot ‘Em Down store when they reopen it. It looks like there’s going to be some good competition for president.

Lum and Abner -Lum Has Lead In Election For Store President . 350214
The race for president of the Jot ‘Em Down Store is hot and heavy. The votes have swung from favoring Abner, to favoring Lum. Abner is out of luck on the pity vote. He took his bandages off his fake broken arms today. Lum uses a figure of speech that gets Abner confused. Dick visits the store, and tries to get Abner to settle down. Lum lays out his campaign plan.

Lum and Abner -Abner Hires Cedric To Carry A Campaign Poster. 350215
At the close of the last visit to Pine Ridge, Lum and Abner were arguing over a loaded pistol, and it went off. Abner talks to Cedric about what really happened. The shot missed Lum. Cedric relates how Lum is using the incident to use the pity vote for his own campaign purposes. Bandaging his arm, and even his head.
Getting serious about his race for president of the store, Abner hires Cedric to carry a sign for him, and even to hire him on when the store opens. Dick Huttleston stops in to talk about Lum, and his taking advantage of his alleged injuries.
Later, when Lum learns of Abner’s plan for Cedric to carry his sign, Lum slips Abner a double cross.
Carlton Bricker is on hand to remind listeners how to send in for a flashlight.
