Lum and Abner -William Horlick Agrees To Distribute The Flashlight . 350204

Narrator, Carlton Bricker puts in his own plug for Horlicks Malted milk. His own daughter loves it. A big surprise awaits in the closing announcements.

Lum and Abner have written Mr. Horlick to do an advertising promotion. Meanwhile Abner is still confined to bed after faking his accident. Abner is acting his part, but he’s getting tired of it. At least he gets to make Lum wait on him.

Before they can get to any mail for the Matrimonial Bureau, Dick Huttleston drops in. He has a special delivery from William Horlick. Lum, Abner and Dick admire a sample of the flashlight, then read his letter. The letter lays out the rules of the promotional give-away. Lum repeats the rules for acquiring the flashlights over the party line.

Carlton Bricker again repeats the rules for getting your very own flashlight.

Lum and Abner -More Mail For Matrimonial Bureau. 350205

Carlton Bricker reminds the listeners of 1935 about the flashlight promotional.

Abner thinks they have too many flashlights for the promo. Cedric brings in more mail, since he started working for Dick Huttleston. One letter is for love advice for a pair of bears in a zoo. When Lum notices all the mail is for the Matrimonial Bureau, Abner insists on doing another announcement over the party line.

Carlton Bricker gives a more detailed description of how to receive a flashlight to help Lum and Abner raise their funds to reopen the store.

Lum and Abner -Election For President Of The Jot ‘Em Down Store. 350206

Carlton Bricker continues to plug the flashlight giveaway.

Abner continues to pretend his arms are both broken, while Lum tries to sort through the Matrimonial Bureau mail. I think Abner is getting to enjoy his situation with broken arms, and having others do his bidding.

He mentions the possibility of being president of the store when it reopens. Lum doesn’t like that idea at all. On another note, the requests for flashlights have started rolling in. When Lum calls the party line to plug flashlights, he tells of the proposed campaign for their friends to vote for the next president of the Jot ‘Em Down Store when it reopens.

Abner gets a call from Lizabeth that she submitted an insurance claim for his broken arms. Now Abner is worried he may take heat for fraud.

Carlton Bricker reminds listeners of 1935 of the rules for the flashlight promo.

Lum and Abner -Lum Tells Listeners That Abner’s Arms Aren’t Broke. 350207

Carlton Bricker reminds listeners of 1935 to send in for their promotional flashlight.

Down in the empty store, Lum and Abner talk about the trouble they are in over Abner’s fake broken arms, and the insurance claim his wife, Lizabeth made for them. He stands to be found out for insurance fraud. The web of lies that began with Lum’s idea of sending out Abner’s picture to all their female Matrimonial Bureau clients has grown out of proportion.

Dick brings the mail, and it gives the chance for Lum and Abner to remind friends who write in for the flashlights to also vote for one for president of the store when it opens. Abner is tickled to see that people are voting for him.

When Lum gets jealous, he can’t take it anymore. Especially when he finds out that Abner’s votes are out of pity for his arms. Lum gets on the party line to spill the beans about Abner’s fake broken arms.

Once Lizabeth finds out, she returns the party line call with the phone lines aflame.

Carlton Bricker once again gives all the details to receive a flashlight.

Lum and Abner -Insurance Company Pays Abner 200Dollars.350208

Carlton Bricker again plugs the flashlight giveaway. It’s a handy, tiny light, that resembles a fountain pen.

Lum and Abner, especially Abner is concerned over the false claim that was submitted to the insurance company. They manage to cool down Lizabeth, and make her believe Abner’s arms are broke and the secret lingers on.

Cedric talks to Abner about the happenings with Abner’s arms, the flashlights, and the voting for store president. As Cedric leaves, Lum comes in from doing some campaigning and promotions.

Abner breaks the news the insurance company delivered a settlement check. Lizabeth, has it hidden, and With Abner’s arms still wrapped up to fake his injury, Lum decides to swipe the check for him.

Carlton Bricker gives an end of show plug on how to get a promotional flashlight.
