Billy Mills opens by playing, This Can’t Be Love.
Fibber is suspected of being up to no good when he brings Molly flowers. It’s in celebration of completing their fifth year for the sponsor. The Old Timer is on hand for a telegram from the movie studio, 19th Century Wolf, and congratulations. Even Teeny pops in to frustrate Fibber.
After an accident with his fountain pen, Fibber is forced to help scrub up the mess with a homemade solution of milk and salt. Abigail Upington is in a sparkling mood when she visits. A moment of her past gets Fibber started in talking about her as Hook and Ladder Upington. But he stops before he starts. More telegrams come, with Harlowe as the singing telegram boy. You know it’ll just have to mention the sponsor.
Next in the parade of visitors is Boomer. He may have his own old family recipe to remove ink stains… or maybe just a lot of other artifacts. It inspires a memory of old times, and House Broke McGee he was known as… and this time Fibber lets it fly. The Kingsman sing, Bad Dogs and Englishmen.
The homemade remedy only seems to be making the spot worse, and the effort has shifted from Fibber to Molly doing the work. Gildersleeve pops in to suggest his own remedy. The schoolboy bickering leads to trying to impress on the other who had the better education. With the carpet a total loss, the great man helps Fibber toss the mess out, only for a surprising ending for Fibber.
Notable Quote: That guy could squeeze himself in more places than a fat lady with a tight girdle.
Note: in post-show, Harlow’s shares that this is, “Be Kind to Animals Week.” Finally, Fibber and Molly honor their writer of 10 years, Don Quinn.
