Scotland Yard opens its official files to share true crime stories. The names have been changed, but the facts are real. Exhibits in the Black Museum serve to aid in solving similar, future crimes. Today, a mirror with a murderer’s finger print has played a key part in the murder case of Margery Ashley.
Marjorie is yet another in a string of what seems to be robbery, beating, and murder. Forensic investigation points to the stabbing and bloody butchering coming first, followed by the beating, with the robbery only tossed in to throw police off the true motive. Jack the Ripper’s name is invoked, but his days were well over 50 years earlier. Surely, he isn’t still around… is he? Fingerprints weren’t available in those days; will the cops find a match in modern records?
The murders stop as suddenly as they started. Now what? A blonde woman comes to the Scotland Yard inspectors to talk about a suspicious encounter she had with an RAF lad. How much can she help out with her description of the forward man who tried to choke her? Cases are reviewed to find any remote similarities that could link a cadet from the RAF unit nearby.
As the dragnet of police close in on the streets, word leaks to the suspected man, and with the pressure on, he is about to jump. Will he act to get revenge on the latest woman to rat him out? Police rush to her apartment in hopes of catching the cat, attacking his mouse in the act. Will the unexpected and untended bait survive?
