Albert is an informant who is fishing for a little cash from the Scotland Yard inspector. There’s not a lot of interest in the information, other than to keep the rapport open. Later, in the police station, the matter of a dead soldier named Casmere is learned about. Suddenly some of Alberts information might be of use to inspector Watkins.
After putting more feelers out, a murder weapon is found. Forensics may imply more than Casemer may be dead. A man named Stevens is also found dead, and the murders seem to be connected. Who shot which man, and which one was shot before the other? Why does it matter?
Witnesses and evidence trickle in, until there’s enough to take action. In epilog, Watkins tells how the case turned out in court.
