After the sale of their old stock last week, Lum and Abner have been able to buy most of it back. The movie company wanted the original look, but it cost our heros more than they anticipated to put the store back in shape.
Abner gets confused at lum’s expression about closing the barn door after the horse is out. Abner is out to find that horse thief. Detective Abner is on the case to help his wife, Lizabeth the recently elected sheriff, track down the imaginary robber. Lum settles him down, but Abner’s horse worries aren’t over yet. It’s enough to make Lum want someone to whomp him one if he ever uses his old Ed’ards sayings in front of Abner again.
A phone call assures Lum that the movie production will tart in the morning. Lum announces on the partyline that the store will be closed for business.
Note: In real life, the show will go on hiatus for the filming of their first movie, but won’t return to the air for over a year. They will air their annual Christmas special, then after producing a couple of auditions it will take a few more months to return to the airwaves.
