A man is accused of murder, and writes to George Valentine for help. He makes the crazy claim that he did kill her, but it wasn’t murder. How can that be? In talking with the cops, the evidence shows that she was poisoned, it wasn’t a suicide, but how does this man come into play with the situation? It’s up to George to start asking the questions to shed light on the crazy set up.
It’s the kind of stuff that radio melodramas are made of. In fact, a producer of radio dramas lends a clue to the mystery, and even wants to gain the rights to make it into a dramatization for his show. George sees some truth beginning to emerge. He’s certain his man is innocent, that somebody slipped him the poison to pass along, but who could it be? Who had the motive?
The plot thickens when another body turns up. With a little extra info from the cops, things are taking shape, but the prime suspect just turned up dead.
There are enough clues now that George is soon hot on the trail, armed with Brooksie as a witness to prove his points, a trap is set to force the bad guy out. . In true radio dramatic fashion, the pieces are laid out for all to see.
