Burglaries are plaguing the city, and Joe Friday is working the Robbery Detail to put a stop to it. In the police station, Joe and partner, Frank Smith talk the family game night at Frank’s house the night before when the phone call comes in to investigate a robbery case.
After a false start, Joe and Frank meet up with an informant. When the woman gets brave enough to go through with her meeting with Joe, she is torn between love for her husband, and turning him in for being a thief. Joe patiently draws her story out. Her hubby has a record of stealing, and jail time, but now he has bought a gun, and it has her worried.
The tormented wife works with the cops to disappear for the night as a meeting with her husband is arranged. Will it come down to gunplay? Will he be picked up for his crimes? Will the cops get the toehold they need to connect him to any wrong doing? Later in the interview room, the cards are laid on the table. Are there any robberies to worry about? The finding of the man’s gun opens a new can of worms since it goes against the terms of his probation.
What will become of the ordeal? Is the man honestly trying to go straight? Will the judge see it that way?
