And narration of the Easter story that recounts the last days of Jesus. The treachery of Jews and pilot. The anointing done to him in preparation for burial. The betrayal by Judas and details during his last supper.
After the Last Supper, the disciples all departed to the Mount of olives. Jesus warned Peter of his coming denial. Then he spent the night in prayer at Gethsemane, and though he was sorrowful, it wasn’t enough to convince his disciples to remain awake with him in prayer. He again warns them of coming temptation with the words, “the spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak”.
The night erupts as Judas betrays Jesus. The soldiers take Jesus into custody. Despite the violence, and fleeing disciples, Jesus heals the man with the ear that was cut off. The night of interrogation and torture begins. Just as predicted, Peter faces his ordeal of denial before the caulk crows in the morning.
The outcome of Judas betrayal is reported, and just as it had been prophesied. Though pilot seemed to try to find ways for the innocent blood of Christ to be rescued, the crowd is relentless in its demands. Public mockery, cruelty and humiliation begins Up until the last moment of Jesus on the cross. Forsaken and rejected right up to the end. The temple veil is torn into. The dead are seen walking. Darkness covers the ground and even the Romans recognize this was indeed the son of God.
At the dawn of the third day, the women came to the tomb. They found angels and an empty tomb. A final word from Jesus to his followers is to teach and make disciples of all men.
