When news comes to the Anderson home, everyone is excited about the move to Chicago. Mom is a little stunned, Betty starts phoning her friends to tell about moving… tomorrow morning. Planning and packing will take longer than that though. Bud isn’t good at geography, and tells his friends the family will live at Kaminsky Park. Even mom gets a little confused when telling a friend. Can Jim keep the family focused on the task of moving? Is the new job all its cracked up to be? Is Jim going to do better in backing down from the move?
Suddenly, each family member discovers sentimental things, or reasons they can’t face moving. But they can’t disappoint Jim, so they keep a positive outlook… like it or not.
Can Jim come clean about his doubts on thejob? Will the family see their false positive attitude as their duty to keep dad encouraged? Who will break first, and admit they really don’t want to go? Everybody is relieved to stay in good old Springfield. They had trouble parting with their stuff anyway.
The problems aren’t exactly over. How will they tell all their friends they really aren’t going? I think their friends will be glad for them as well.
