Lum’s horoscope claims he’ll be lucky in love, so he’s eager to go see Miss Rowena. Ben Withers shows up to show off his new crew cut. He seems to have a new love interest, but who can it be? Lum could have a rival for the hand of Miss Rowena.
Elsewhere we find Ben presenting Rowena with the gift he bought for her. The dog doesn’t seem to be making any favorable impressions. As Lum eavesdrops, he mistakes the conversation about the dog as being said about him. Can an old dog that dumb learn any tricks?
Wendell Niles plugs the sponsor product as he finds out about Lum’s awkward date with Miss Rowena.
Abner is worried at Lum being poisoned, or mistreated if he goes through with his date. Lum’s bravery is challenged as every little exchange with Rowena, Ezra Seestrunk, Luke Spears all makenhim think this could be a farewell dinner for him.
Abner is invited to join the dinner. Surely Ezra won’t be trying to do him as well… will he? The verbal mix ups finally end, but has Lum’s lucky day of love turned out the way he expected it would?
