As Fibber tries to convince Molly to come with him on his canoe and camping trip, Doc Gamble enters to tell about his vacation plans. Harlowe Wilcox tells about his vacation, and besides the commercial, a plug for the Summer replacement is made. Fred Waring and his Pennsylvanians will take over and become the object of a string of jokes and puns as the show goes on.
Wallace Wimple seems tired out after being forced to do a few household chores, under the supervision of his big old wife, Sweetie Face. Will he ever get brave, and show his wife who wears the pants in the family? Don’t worry, he has his own dirty tricks planned to deal with her. The Kingsmen sing, A Grand Night for Singing.
Fibber goes over his checklist as he wraps up his packing, but Molly still won’t budge on joining him. Mayor Latrivia gets caught up on keeping the puns about the Summer replacement show going. The word play can only lead one place, to a slow burn finish at Latrivia’s expense.
A last moment telegram does the trick to get Molly to budge, and give up her quiet, restful Summer and join Fibber on his canoe trip.
