The war in Europe has just ended last Tuesday (May 8), and the spirits run high as Jack and Don comment on VE Day. Though Jack tries to brag about his own military accomplishments, Mary bursts his bubble. Larry Stevens plays along with Jack’s bragging, then he sings, There’s a Happy Land Somewhere.
Phil enters, and jokes about various bans and shortages being lifted. It’s Mother’s Day, and Mary gets a phone call from her mom. Jack leaves to get packed for his trip to San Fransisco, and Phil plays some travelling music.
At home, Rochester helps with the packing. Jack takes a trip to his vault for some mad money for his travelling needs. Now it’s off to the train station to meet up with the rest of the gang. Frank Nelson is the information booth clerk. And of course, Mel Blanc as the train announcer.
PS: The show was either running long, and the last sketch was shortened to fit. Or the show was running long, and the last sketch was tossed at the last minute to fill the time. Not much to it.
