A judge is holding a law book in one hand and wagging his finger in the other.

The scene is set in a Chicago concert hall, as the performance wraps up. The proud parents recieve disturbing word backstage from their son, Billy. A strange woman had approached him. Who was she? What did she want? After 10 years, it’s Billy’s real mom coming back into his life, but can she be bought off? The story emerges of how Billy was put up for adoption, and now the family only wants their privacy.

Should they go into a self-imposed hiding? Will that funny woman stop poking her nose into their business? The situation escalates as Billy’s birth mother begins stalking her boy. Confronted, the woman tells her story of being sick, jobless, and generally struggling. She wants to leach off of Billy’s fame and success in the concert hall.

The extortion seems to borderon blackmail. Does the family have any real claim on Billy? Was their adoption legal, and if so, what rights do they have to protect them?

Finally visiting the law firm who arranged the adoption, the arsenal of tools are gathered, and their legal tracks are covered. Fears of losing Billy are alieved, but now it’s time to take recourse against the pesky birth mom. Will a restraining order be needed? What other tips will be offered in how the matter could have been handled differently?
