Fibber is busily writing a story to enter into a contest. It pays $100 to the winner with the best Tall Tale. Under pressure, Fibber has trouble putting his many stories onto the page. Alice, their young neighbor who works at the defense plant pops in to visit. She tells about a friend who is a writer. Billy Mills and the orchestra play, Two Guitars.
As Fibber continues to type away, and worry over his creative juices, Millicent Carstairs visits. She has been out doing some horseback riding and tells about her exploits riding with Roy Rogers. Fibber brags about his circus riding act with horses.
Doc Gamble comes over to pick up Fibbers story for the Elk club competition. Fibber tells about his training as an Indian Fakir. Suddenly, inspiration strikes, and Fibber rattles off his entry to hand over. The Kingsmen sing, I Don’t Care if I Never Go To Bed.
Will Fibber come out a winner? Will he end up with his tale between his legs? Mayor Latrivia enters with news that Wallace Wimple has been discharged from the Navy, and will return in a couple weeks. The mayor gets in on some word play on some of Fibbers misunderstood use of words, and figures of speech. Turning green with envy, getting a hotfoot, and others.
PS: Alice claims to have to leave to meet with Geraldine, a police lady who rides a brown horse. Might this be the same Geraldine from the earlier seasons who was the McGee’s talkative neighbor with a husband named Gerald? Just wondering.
