After meeting Mr Scot’s daughter last weedk, Marjorie has a terrible crush on Julius. Is this a good thing, or not? Phil talks with Alice and Willie about the situation. Phil is worried that his job may be at risk if Julius sabotages him with the boss. When Mr Scot and Jjulius visit, the grocery boy flaunts his new found power over Phil. After plenty of jumping to conclusions, Phil sings, On the Mississippi.
Frankie arrives to swap insults with Mr Scot. To sway Julius to change his mind, Phil tries to impersonate Marjorie. Will his phone call get him and the band out of their expected rehearsals? Alice sings, Clancey Lowers the Boom.
It becomes clear to Phil that his plan to fool Julius didn’t work, but how can he get in the first punch to get back at his rival? Can he scare Julius by getting him to marry Marjorie? Maybe the young couple want to get married. Can Phil convince them that married life isn’t so great afterall? Alice’s responce isn’t helping his cause. But a cute scene.
Note: Remley invokes the word, tolerance, and claims the definition is that he doesn’t accept Mr Scot, but at least he doesn’t hate him. It seems the modern version of the definition goes a step further. People scream for tolerance, and mean they demand love and support, in addition to accepting them. The real meaning has nothing to do with either definition. It means that an item meets certain specifications within a narrow margin. It has nothing to do with emotions, and the more natural condition of the human state is to be outside any window of tolerance. What people really want is patience and understanding. It covers a lot more territory than tolerance.
