Lum and Abner – Lum Trades Some of Abner’s Possessions to Gypsies for a Worthless Horse. 480806

Two men dressed in traditional Hawaiian attire, Lum and Abner, are seen mid-dance in the center of a small store. Lum, on the left, is playing a ukulele while Abner on the right is swaying his hips and waving his arms. A small crowd is gathered around them, some clapping and others smiling. The store itself is cluttered with various items, including shelves of canned goods and hanging clothes, giving it a cozy and lived-in feel.

Grandpap wonders why Abner is so desperate to get shut of his stuff by September 1st. As part of the inheritance deal, he can’t tell his friends why. Grandpap has been deputized to help deal with local Gypsies, and thinks that Abner’s behavior may mean that he’s on the run for crimes he commi5tted.
The gents talk about some of Abner’s old novelty records. Will grandpap walk away with the victrola for the price of a gallon of buttermilk? Grandpap is too kindhearted to get the better of his friend, and an argument has to be broken up by Lum.
Lum has news of the deal he just made for Abner, but armed only with part of the information of Abner’s potential windfall of $100k, grandpap arrests them. What’ the charge? How long will he be able to hold them?
