Jack Benny – Jack Has A Cold. ep328, 390319

Jack Benny, Mary Livingstone and Don Wilson posing for a photo in 1938.

Don tells that Jack is at home with a cold. As he Kenny, and Phil handle the studio audience, we go to visit Rochester and Carmichael the polar bear as they tend to Jack. Jack has become of his polar bear, and doesn’t understand why Rochester is so afraid of the critter. A home nurse is on hand but… which one is the patient again? She’ll figure it out… maybe. Mary arrives to joke about the touchy relationship between Rochester and Carmichael. Tuning in the radio, they catch Don’s commercial, and Kenny Baker’s song, A Little Bit of Heaven.

The cast turn to poking fun at Fred Allen, and the comments he made about Jack on his show last week. Did the real Jack Benny appear on Fred’s show? Is the claims of where Jack was born true? It turns out that Mary knows Jack’s nurse from her May Company days. Taking time to go over bills, Jack puts Rochester on the spot for the household expenses. How’s it going back in the studio? Jack tunes in for the latest corny jokes. Phil plays, Honolulu.

In the absence of Jack, Phil starts to put on his own western sketch, Buck Harris. The doctor, Frank Nelson, stops in to give Jack his medicine. The doctor takes time to examine Carmichael as well. It could mean that Jack and Carmichael have more than a cold. Tuning the radio in again, Jack listens to Buck Harris visiting his gal, Daisy Baker.
