Industrial sabotage threatens the advancement of technology on the planet Jupiter. The set backs could halt the biggest advancement since the inventions of the automobile, or rubber. Who could be behind such a scheme? Commander Corey is on hand to learn just that. To add to the curiosity, a lake is losing its water supply, and appears to be draining itself.
In the science lab, we get a peek at the mysterious new material that is being developed. Vitaplast is a synthetic that can take on different properties as electric current is applied to it. Being lured into inspecting among the chemical vats used in the production of vitaplast, Commander Correy and Happy find their lives in danger from the toxic substances.
Good old fashioned police skills is the thing to use to determine whether this is all just a bad business risk, and prone to poor safety practices, or if there is actual sabotage going on. What does the vanishing lake have to do with the factory? Who has the motive to commit the crime? Is there a cover up going on? What clues will be discovered to help Commander Correy solve the mystery?
