As the Cugats get dressed to face the day, Liz complains that she doesn’t have a thing to wear. Especially with a party at the Attabery’s, George’s boss, Liz demands that she has a new dress to wear.
George declines, and Liz raises to his challenge of making her own dress. With some coaching from Katie, what can go wrong? Let’s just say that it’s a good thing Liz bought about ten times the amount of fabric needed to make a dress, she’s going to need it. When she’s all done, the dress that Liz makes is monsterous. George is going to make her wear it anyway, but as he leaves to get back to the office, Liz goes behind his back and plans to get her dress.
She goes to the swanky, upscale dress shop, with Frank Nelson as store clerk. As a prank she puts a store label on her ruined dress to see if Frank will try to sell her on it. Liz flees out the back way when she spots George coming up the walk. She doesn’t know it, but the guys have made their own plan. George and Mr Attaberry are going to switch an old dress from the closet, and box it up to give to the others wife. A neat trick, since the two wives are far apart in dress sizes, but they have a plan to cover that snag.
George plays a trick on Liz when she finds her monster of a dress that she made earlier in the box from the swanky store, but he shows her the actual dress he got from Mr Attaberry. Wow, that Liz sure has a photographic memory for dresses. Liz recognizes it, and once all the pranks are pulled, George caves in and makes Liz’ day when he agrees to take her dress shopping.
