As Jack continues trimming the tree, Mary reads rejection telegrams from each of his celebrity guests. Despite a few mishaps, Jack remains in the Christmas spirit. Andy Devine arrives to play Santa Claus for the gang. Phil plays some mood music, then Jack gets a surprise when Phil brings Joan Bennet for his date.
Joan gets to joke around about the film she just made with Jack.
