A story of a typical family. A loving dad and mom, and a family with two sons. Well, as normal as it gets in a program like Quiet Please. As usual, the story is told mostly in narration, with sparse parts spoken by others. The younger son tells of his realization of a religious rite his family practices, that of sacrifice. What’s the mystic reasons behind it? does it really bring wealth, or happiness, and the like?
The son grows depressed because e has nothing of is own to sacrifice. The narrative recounts how the family grows more prosperous, and the two sons finally prepare their own sacrifices, after working so hard on the family farm.
Where is all this going? Here’s a hint: check out your copy of the Bible and read about the first sacrifice ever recorded there. Though the radio play mentions no names, you’ll likely recognize Cain and Abel before the story is done.
