Jack Benny – Bergen and McCarthy, Red Skelton. 490925

A black and white photograph of Jack Benny, a man in a suit and tie, standing against a plain background. He is looking off to the side with a slight smile on his face, and his hands are clasped in front of him. Benny was a comedian and actor, best known for his radio and television shows in the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s. The photograph conveys a sense of classic Hollywood glamour and style, with Benny's sharp features and piercing blue eyes on prominent display.

It’s that time of year when the new radio season begins, and all your favorites begin making appearances again. Today we find Jack and Mary being driven to the studio by Rochester. Mix ups and disrespect is the theme of the day, and starts when Jack finds a car parked in his spot. Inside he finds his dressing room has been given away to Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy.

After driving Jack nuts with his crazy comments, Dennis sings, Some Enchanted Evening. Jack finds Amos and Andy havetaken over his replacement dressing room. Running gags abound, and one from the last show deals with Mel Blanc looking for work on the show.

As Jack continues his search in the studio, he finds Red Skelton has taken over Jacks assigned studio for his rehearsal. Will Jack ever get his show started today? What if he just refuses to show up, what will CBS do then? If you listen in, you’ll find out.
