It’s a Summer day in Riverdale, and the temperature is rising. Fred complains to Mary about the heat, but what should he do about it? As Mary turns to her kitchen, Fred steps out to enjoy the breeze on the front porch.
Archie is in high spirits, and plans to play some baseball with his friends. What dad needs is a tall, cool, glass of lemonade. Since Mary is busy defrosting the fridge, there’s no ice. Dad send Archie over to get ice cubes from Betty’s house. Dad gets more good advice when Jughead suggests getting a fan to keep cool.
Not finding any icubes, Archie returns with a block of ice, that turns into a goofy game of hot potato… er cold potato? As he, dad, and mom juggle the freezing block among themselves. Betty pops in, and is in a chatty mood. Betty has her own idea of keeping cool, just turn on a lawn sprinkler. Hmm… I feel a problem coming on, especially once Jughead returns with is electric fan and Betty sprinkles dad with water.
It’s commercial time. When the sponsor gets all wet, dad decides the sprinkler is too dangerous. Veronica pops in with her own advice, putting Fred’s feet in a bucket of water. Dad leaves to find the bcket. Jughead shows off his handywork in fixing his fan, but before he can, dad spills his bucket of water. There’s still an accident brewing, and the overacting teens create enough chaos to distract dad into finding it.
Not to mention that mom has phoned the doctor over the earlier fall with the bucket, and now dad has to go in for a visit of heat treatments from his inured back.
