Hellen and Richard flirt over the phone, until they’re interrupted by a client. The shrimp of a man claims that a notorious gangster, Hank Burton, is willing to turn himself in so Richard can collect the reward.
Going to see Hank, we learn that he has been badly hurt, and in need of medical attention. He also wants Richard to find a dame who has a handle on some missing loot.
Following up on the leads that Hank gives him, Richard goes to talk to his friend Walt. What will he find out from digging into police files, and comparing notes with Walt? The trail leads to a pool hall, but a phone call reports that Walt has found her first. At least he found her corpse.
Out on the waterfront, Richard crosses paths with Shrimp again. What will he learn from the little man with the big gun? With the dame dead, and now Hank, who else knows about the jewels? What kind of danger will Richard be in? He’ll have to fight for his life if he hopes to spend another night of crooning to his best gal, Hellen.
