Joe Friday works the nightwatch in the homicide department. Questioning starts at a bar, as Joe and Frank look for the kidnapped wife of the bar tender. Suddenly he gets a phone call from the kidnappers. Before taking the investigation in new directions, Joe Friday shares a few statistics about kidnapping, and kidnappers.
A neighbor lady sheds light on the not so ideal marriage, and personality of the bar tender husband. Things take shape when the woman is found, and she’s alive. Now the husband is gone, but word comes in that he may be out for revenge on the person he believes is the kidnapper.
Friday goes after him to settle this case once and for all, then a gunshot rings out.
