A sightseeing tour bus takes a group through Chinatown, and a murdered body is found. At an auction house, the bossis being blackmailed by the killer, but the killer becomes the body when the boss isn’t going for it. Farraday investigates the body from the tour bus, and the unique thing is that neither have any identification on them. Farraday’s only bright spot so far, is that Boston Blackie hasn’t gotten involved yet.
Elsewhere, the boss, and a henchman dump the body of the blackmailer in a barrel in the river. Meanwhile, Blackie and Mary poke around the auctionhouse, and find signs of a murder, then checks in with Farraday with details about a body. Imagine Blackies surprise when the details don’t match.
The elderly couple who found the original body decide to help Farraday, but when they visit his office, they are pleasantly surprised to talk to Blackie instead. They describe the man they saw leaving the scene, and his description meets the details that Blackie found at his murder scene. It clicks with him sthat he is now on the track of the killer’s killer.
Blackie shares all he found out with Farraday about the murders, and his idea that the auction is a front for fencing stolen goods. Farraday is still chasing the obvious, so Blackie aind Mary arrange their own little trap.
Mary acts as the dead killer’s girlfriend, and puts pressure on the boss. He’s smarter than planned, and recognizes Mary. She’s in real danger when the boss reveals again how ruthless he can ben. Now he reverses the trap, and plans to spring it on Blackie. There’s a showdown, gunplay, but Blackie proves that he thinks ahead. All that’s left is turning over the boss tothe cops.
