It’s oyster shucking time in the Meadowlark Restaurant, and Lum’s salesmanship of his oysters has him almost tempted to try one of his own tasty treats. The thought of eating them raw still manages to keep both Lum and Abner away from them though.
Doc Ben Withers makes the rounds today to deliver telegrams that request the world famous Lumburger recipe. Grandpap enters to tell that he’s quitting as Lum’s secretary to sell insurance for Squire Skimp. Will Abner heed the warnings of the scripted insurance spiel?
Squire enters, but will he be the one to try Lum’s oysters on the half shell? While everyone avoids them, Squire loves them, then grandpap discovers he bit into a pearl. Does the fact that he sent it away make it the property of Lum and Abner now? Since Squire hasn’t paid for his meal yet, will he have any legal claim to it? Stay tuned to see how this story plays out. I feel a raging court battle coming on.
