Jack is missing so Don phones home to have Rochester see what is going on. Rochester wakes Jack up from his dream, and he hurries to get dressed. Mary phones in to Jack, with the report of what the cast is doing while he is away. They’re playing cards, and losing bets to eachother. Kenny has won Mary’s hat and thinks he’s an Indian Chief.
After a few jokes, adlibs and a quick hop into a cab, the scene cuts to the studio where Phil is playing, Let That Be a Lesson to You. The gag is that the cast has swapped jobs, and don was leading the band while Phil has taken over the announcing. The switch came about after the card game the cast had, and they each lost bets to each other.
A letter comes from Mary’s mom, which she reads. She tells all about the latest from her folks, brother Hilliard, and sister Babe. Kenny sings, Bei Dir Mis Du Shane.
Don switches the theme of the show to going to the horse races. Flashback to Santa Anita race track. Jack talks to Mary about his horse that he thinks is a sure thing. On the way to place his bet, Jack talks to Kenny about which horse to pick. Jack is stopped by a race track tout with a hot tip. In a moment of indecision, both Mary and Jack swap, and place bets on each others horses. Time for the race to start, and Frank Nelson provides the color commentary as the horses race to the dramatic finish. And the winner is… one of them but you’ll want to listen in to find out who. Don wraps up with another jello recipe.
