What do you do on a hot, sweltering day in the city to keep cool? If you’re Irma Peterson, a trip to Coney Island seems to be just the right thing. All her friends agree, and the day looks to be a fun one. Even the professor and Mrs. Riley decide to tag along.
Suddenly things go wrong. Jane’s boyfriend, Richard, has a business meeting to attend. Then Al Irma’s boyfriend has to bow out. The trip goes on as planned, but Irma is particularly upset when others are signing up for the Personality contest, but she can’t do it without Al.
Then as things often do in old radio, There’s a big happy ending when both Richard and Al manage to make the trip afterall. But of course, it’s not so much about the plot line as it is about the laughs as we see things as they appear to Irma.
