Podcast: Play in new window | Download (Duration: 28:26 — 13.0MB)
It’s Saturday, and Archie’s moping around the house has mom worried. Is he sick or something? I wouldn’t be so worried about Archie’s moping, not as much as that apparent eating disorder that he seems to have acquired.
When Jughead comes over, Archie shares his secret, a love that will last forever. Again. Who is the object of Archie’s affection? Better yet, does she even know? Archie makes Jughead promise to keep his secret, and they run through scenes of romance as Archie tries to work out the right thing to say to his unwary love interest.
Veronica calls, and though Archie is his usual giggly self, he has to forsake her and break his date. Mom is now even more convinced that Archie is sick and makes him lay down in his room, putting a kink in his plan to meet with his true love.
With new love bursting out, Archie feels like a trapped rat in his room. He and Jughead plan their big escape. Amazingly, their noisy climb out the window, or the hyper-talkative Betty doesn’t give our heros away. Do you want to know why? Archie’s true love, his school teacher, is coming over to talk to Archie’s parents about him. Where would the show be without a misconnection and misunderstanding? Can things get more complicated? You know it will.
Mom has ordered a visit from the family doctor, who thinks everybody is his patient. Betty spills the beans about Archie’s clandestine escape, which sends the household into a round of chaos that breaks out. All the partial truths come crashing together, and the real truth is out about who is in love with who. And it doesn’t involve the heartbroken Archie.
Afterwards, in his own way though, dad shares with Archie a story to let him know that he knows and understands better than Archie may have thought about lost loves. Touching, in a cartoonnie, kid show kind of way. Archie bounces back quickly though.
