Stuck in Hollywood, sleeping on pool tables, and finding it impossible to buy a a train ticket home, Lum and Abner are having trouble understanding why people think Hollywood is so glamourous. In a soup kitchen, the gents discuss their difficulty in getting train tickets back to Pine Ridge. They’re so desperate that they took an ad out in the paper for hitching a ride with any travellers who are heading their way.
The want ad works, and Lum and Abner meet Mr Bushly. To fit in with their new friend, Lum does all he can to keep on the good side of Mr Bushly, helping him with his oversized steamer trunk.
After struggling with the trunk, there’s just one thing missing before they can take their trip by automobile.
