When a boy reports an attack at the homestead, he drops dead at the feet of Matt and Chester. Checking up at the Thompson place, only the evidence of the Indian raid remains. No recent word of hostile Indians have been reported, but that is poor comfort to Mrs. Thompson over her loss.
Back in Dodge City, the search for jaliscoe Pete begins. After talking witth Kitty, hinting there could be a intimate relationship bettween them, Matt has to get down to business over the murder. Though rumors of the Indian uprising have spread, Matt shares evidence that white men are behind it. The pressure is on from the homesteaders to do something about the killing, when rowdy cow handss come to town with pistols hlazing. If Matt can’t find Jaliscoe Pete soon, Doc may have plenty of gunshot wounds to clean up after.
Tensions in town grow. When Matt talks with Kitty, he discovers more on Pete and his band of gun men. Chester rushes in with late breaking word from the restless homesteaders and cow hands. Can Matt make a move to stop a bloody range war? Are things already out of hand when the cow hands kill Pete to keep him from talking?
Guns blaze, and the prairies are made safe for the homesteaders. The times are changing, but is there a solution for the honest ranchers?
